Botanic Sanctuary in Antwerp
Between monastery walls and a botanical garden
Surrounded by trees, rare plants and fragrant medicinal herbs, in the middle of a botanical garden, stands the Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp. The five-star hotel, located in the restored buildings of a former monastery and hospital, comprises 108 rooms, several meeting rooms, an extensive spa area and a small chapel. Five dining venues, which have been awarded a total of four Michelin stars, ensure culinary excellence.
A place of peace and relaxation: The hotel’s interiors all radiate peace and security. This is due to the fact that only natural materials were used – from stone to warm woods and wrought-iron constructions to fine fabrics. The chosen colours, a mix of green, beige and subtle brown tones, underline the historical dimension of the place. This creates a retreat that invites you to relax.
The homely rooms in particular embody this: They impress with small details such as pictures, lamps and curtains, that invite you to linger. In keeping with this, the bathrooms have a particularly purist design. White plastered walls, floors and washbasins made of anthracite-coloured natural stone as well as various wooden elements ground the design.
Above the white bowl basins are two VAIA fittings. At first glance, the series appears classic thanks to the cross handles. However, the delicate lines and the open silhouette make it appear progressive at the same time. In this way, it combines traditional and contemporary style elements as if it was made for a former monastery, whose furnishings master precisely this balancing act. In Brushed Dark Platinum, the fittings blend subtly into the ensemble of grey and white. At the same time, the brilliance and depth of colour of the finishes attract all eyes. Other Dornbracht products in the shower and on the bathtub rim ideally complement the washbasin fittings.
